Fuel prices set to rise from Wednesday
The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has announced that fuel prices will increase from Wednesday.
Both grades of petrol will increase by 29 cents per litre, both grades of diesel will go up by between 65 cents and 85 cents per litre.
Meanwhile illuminating paraffin will be nearly R1 more expensive, while liquefied petroleum gas will increase by 24 cents.
The department’s spokesperson Robert Maake says, “The reasons for these adjustments are that the average Brent crude oil prices decreased slightly during the period under review, and the rand appreciated against the dollar during the same period. The international product prices of petrol and diesel were also affected by lower inventories ahead of the winter season in the northern hemisphere, as well as the planned and unplanned refinery shutdowns in Europe as they prepare for their winter season.”
