DURBAN – December 30, 2023: The Safer Festive Season Operations in Dundee yielded significant success as law enforcement arrested six individuals allegedly involved in a series of armed robberies. The arrests took place on Friday, December 29, 2023, showcasing the effectiveness of coordinated efforts by the Glencoe K9 Unit and the uMzinyathi District High Density Team.

Acting on intelligence regarding an imminent armed robbery, the units strategically intervened, catching the suspects off guard at a residence in Forrestdale, Dundee, where they were allegedly scheming their criminal activities.

Upon apprehension, the suspects were found in possession of five firearms and multiple rounds of ammunition. Notably, two of the recovered firearms were identified as replicas—an imitation pistol and a gas gun. The suspects were also in possession of suspected stolen liquor. Preliminary investigations unveiled their alleged involvement in a recent robbery at a local tavern, which occurred two days prior to their arrest.

Furthermore, the suspects are implicated in a burglary at a nearby clothing store, as indicated by the recovery of suspected stolen property at the residence where they were apprehended.

The six suspects, ranging in age from 23 to 42, are set to face charges including illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as possession of suspected stolen property. They will appear in court soon to answer for their alleged involvement in the reported criminal activities. The arrests underscore the commitment of law enforcement to ensuring a safer festive season for residents and businesses in the area.
