Shock as Limpopo woman discovers during sexual intercourse that it was not her boyfriend, but his friend
A 21-year-old man, Pfarelo Nemutandani, was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Makhado Regional Court, for the rape of his friend’s girlfriend, after he tricked the woman to have sex with him, Limpopo police said.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said during the trial, it was found that on June 22, 2022, at around 1am, the woman had visited her boyfriend’s home at Ha-Mutsha Khwekhwe in Makhado.
The court heard that at night, the couple had sex and afterwards, the boyfriend went out of the room where they were sleeping.
Moments later, a person entered the room and the woman presumed that it was her boyfriend. That person came onto the bed, where the woman was sleeping, and initiated sex with her.
The woman presumed that she was having sex with her boyfriend.
Police said during sexual intercourse, the woman later realised it was not her boyfriend who had returned to the room.
“She initially thought it was her boyfriend. While busy with an intimate session, she realised that it was a different person. She screamed and jumped from the bed,” said Ledwaba.
The woman then found out that the person she was having sex with was her boyfriend’s friend. The man apologised profusely.
A rape case was later opened.
“The police were notified and the suspect was arrested for rape. The docket was transferred to Thohoyandou family violence, child protection and sexual offences (FCS) unit, and assigned to Warrant Officer Khorombi Christopher Tshivalo for further investigations,” said Ledwaba.
Following thorough investigations, Nemutandani was found guilty of rape, and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Meanwhile, provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed Nemutandani’s sentencing.
“We appreciate the efforts by the investigating officer and everyone who participated in the case,” said Hadebe.
On Thursday, IOL reported that police in Mpumalanga have welcomed a sentence of 10 years behind bars handed down by the Lydenburg Regional Court to a 39-year-old man who was convicted for raping his friend’s wife.
The court heard that in May 2022, a group of four friends, including one woman who was 44-years-old at the time, came together for some drinks after a funeral in Lydenburg.
“The victim (the woman) felt tired and decided to call it a day. They all got into a car and dropped her at home. Thereafter, they went back for entertainment and the house was locked by the victim’s husband,” said Mpumalanga provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli.
During trial, the court heard that the 39-year-old man decided to return to the house where they had dropped his friend’s wife – leaving his friend at the entertainment place.
He managed to get hold of the house keys, then he proceeded into the room where the woman was asleep.
“It was during this time when the accused raped the victim,” said Mdhluli.
The incident was subsequently reported to the police and the specialized family violence, child protection and sexual offences (FCS) unit was assigned to probe.
