NAFCOC believes registration won’t stop rapid increase in spaza shops – SABC News
The National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NAFCOC)’s President Glibert Mosena says government’s registration drive is not the solution for rapid increase of spaza shops in the country.
The deadline for registration for all spaza shops came was at the end of last month.
NAFCOC, which is celebrating 60 years since its establishment, maintains that government should have consulted with the federation to find a better solution.
Mosena elaborates, “We are not saying people should not come but people should come the right way and if they come as investors obviously there are some regulations about that. But people who simply come illegally and establish the spaza shop all over, we are very worried about that because government has a tendency to do thing unilaterally but should government have consulted us as NAFCOC, I’m sure we were going to find a solution.”
