Gauteng intensifies crime fight with full resource deployment – SABC News

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says the province has decided to fully deploy its resources to intensify the fight against crime.

He was speaking at the signing ceremony of the Gauteng Safety Agreement held at the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto campus.

Lesufi says metropolitan boundaries are being scrapped for law enforcement officers, allowing them to operate across jurisdictions, which he says will make it easier to tackle crime more effectively.

“There’s no border in Gauteng, there is only one border and that border is called Gauteng. Wherever a criminal is, wherever a drug lord is, wherever a rapist is, we will unleash all of our resources and hunt that individual until we get them. So, all the municipalities that have signed this agreement, I want to thank you for doing one thing only, for getting rid of unnecessary bureaucracy, ” Lesufi elaborates.
