Magashule to plead not guilty in asbestos case – SABC News


The trial of former Free State Premier Ace Magashule who is accused number 13 in the asbestos roof removal case involving R255 million is finally under way at the High Court in Bloemfontein with indications that the accused will plead not guilty.

Businessman Edwin Sodi is among those who have pleaded not guilty.

A total of 18 people face charges including fraud and money laundering in connection with the removal of asbestos roofs from houses. Magashule appeared relaxed in court.

He along with the other accused say they intend to plead not guilty.

“Well, I’ve always said we are ready and that’s why it’s raining. I’ve said let heavens fall and justice be done. I hope South Africans and the entire globe is going to know the truth. Why are we here and I’m happy that the case has now started.”
