Officials raise concern over violence at certain Gauteng schools – SABC News

A Grade 11 learner at Vulanindlela Secondary school in Orange Farm south of Johannesburg has been stabbed and rushed to a clinic.

A Grade 10 learner has been arrested after the incident.

This follows an alleged physical altercation between the two, over a cap this morning.

On Monday, a learner was stabbed in an apparent retaliatory attack by a gang at Thetha Secondary School also in Orange Farm.

Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says the incidents have caused disruption to schooling in the area.

“We are working closely with police. Police and the department have made sure that patrolling is happening in and around school. That commitment will assure other learners who are scared to probably go to schools.”
