The uMkhonto we Sizwe Party (MK) has won its first ward in the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal.

This after the party defeated the Democratic Alliance(DA) in a by-election that was held in Mount Moriah, Sunningdale, under ward 110 yesterday.

The DA previously ran the ward which is in northern Durban. The position became vacant after the DA removed its councillor.

Other parties that contested the ward include the African National Congress, the Economic Fighters and the National Freedom Party.
