Makazole Mapimpi broke JP Pietersen’s Sharks try-scoring record with his match-winner against Edinburgh on Friday night.
Pietersen scored 39 tries in 137 Super Rugby appearances and 17 in 42 Currie Cup matches for a total of 56 in the black and white jersey.
Mapimpi crossed the line for the 40th time in his 88th appearance for the Sharks (Super Rugby/URC/EPCR) when snatching victory at Hive Stadium.

The 34-year-old’s only Currie Cup appearance came in 2018 and he did not score a try.
