Pope Francis was best known for his humility: Father Ndlovu – SABC News

Administrator of the Cathedral of Christ the King Church in Johannesburg, Father Lawrence Ndlovu, has expressed sadness at the death of Pope Francis.

The Vatican earlier confirmed that Pope Francis died at the age of 88.

He was the first Latin American leader of the Roman Catholic Church. The death of the Pope ends an often turbulent reign marked by division and tension, this as he sought to overhaul the Church.

Pope Francis had survived a serious bout of double pneumonia.

Father Ndlovu reflects on the pope’s humility.

“He has been known for his humility, and I think, a particular feature that he’s had all his life. Pope Francis, even when he was still in Buenos Aires, you know, used to ride the train and live an ordinary life. He led from a very human place and transformed many of the dicasteries in Rome, introduced women into the leadership of the church and has taken the church forward in a remarkable way. He will be sadly missed by I think by the entire world because he had become a very solid and moral voice.”

Tributes for the pope are being shared from across the globe:
