Four Justices nominated for Deputy Chief Justice post – SABC News
Gauteng Judge President Justice Dunstan Mlambo and Supreme Court of Appeal President Madam Justice Mahube Molemela are among the four candidates President Cyril Ramaphosa has nominated for the position of Deputy Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa.
The position has been vacant since the elevation of Justice Mandisa Maya as the Chief Justice of the Republic of South Africa.
The list further includes Justice John Musi, who is the Judge President of the Free State Division of the High Court, as well as Justice Pule Tlaletsi, who is the Judge President of the Northern Cape Division of the High Court.
The list of candidates will now become the subject of consultation as per Section 174(3) of the Constitution on the suitability of these Justices to occupy the second-highest position in the country’s judiciary.
