Nixon picks top 3 Stormers

Dewaldt Duvenage and his son Nixon chat about the Stormers and Benetton, ahead of the first Vodacom URC clash between the teams at Cape Town Stadium.

In their only previous meeting in the Cape two years ago, Benetton lost 38-22 at Danie Craven Stadium, where a younger Nixon ran out with the veteran scrumhalf before kick-off.

The Stormers and Benetton, eighth and fifth respectively on the URC standings, lock horns on Saturday in week 16 of the URC, also the second ‘Kids Round’ of the 2024-25 campaign.

From 2008 to 2013, and again from 2016 to 2018, Duvenage was synonymous with Western Province and Stormers colours. The 36-year-old rejoined the Cape outfit this season as he transitions into coaching.

He was previously at the forefront of Benetton’s rise from European whipping boys to URC and EPCR title-contenders, making almost 100 appearances for the Italian outfit and playing a key role as a leader and playmaker in the green and white stripes in Treviso over five seasons.
