DA questions Tembisa hospital’s effectiveness in preventing fires – SABC News

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng has questioned the effectiveness of personnel at the Tembisa Hospital on the East Rand in preventing incidents such as fires.

The DA is calling for a swift investigation into the two recent fires at the hospital in Olifantsfontein, Johannesburg.

The fires occurred within days of each other, with the latest incident happening in the out-patient department on Wednesday.

DA Gauteng Shadow Health MEC Jack Bloom says, “It is very suspicious that there have been two fires within the space of a few days at the Tembisa Hospital. We can’t be having the situation such as we had in Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg (Academic) Hospital where it took two years before we found out that the police did suspect arson there and nobody was caught for that.”
