Godongwana announces that revised budget to be tabled on 21 May – SABC News
Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has confirmed that a third attempt at tabling the National Budget will be made on the 21st of May 2025.
Last week, National Treasury announced its decision to reverse its proposed 0.5 percentage point VAT increase following contestation from political parties.
Godongwana says government remains committed to its strategic path to strengthening health, education and social services.
Speaking at a media briefing in Pretoria, Godongwana says he has no intentions to resign and emphasized that the final decision lies with the President.
Earlier, the Western Cape High Court halted the government’s planned VAT increase after mounting.
The proposed hike was aimed at addressing a R75 billion revenue shortfall.
