The three Free State police constables whose bodies were retrieved from the Hennops River in Centurion, Gauteng will be given police official funerals.

The families of the deceased officers will hold separate funeral services.

“We agreed with the families to say that the funerals will be held over three days. The funeral of Constable Senoge will be on Thursday; the funeral of Constable Linda will be on Friday. Police say they have opened a case of culpable homicide to establish how three Free State police officers died.

Police leadership addressed the media at the Hennops River in Centurion, in Pretoria yesterday after the vehicle in which the constables were travelling in was recovered.

National Police Spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe says they will commence with a forensic investigation of the vehicle.

“Suspicion is that these constables may have plunged into the river as a result of a vehicle accident, but we are investigating this. Our vehicle accident unit is in possession of the vehicle that was retrieved yesterday … they will be able to give us the answers that we’ve been looking as to what exactly happened,” she says.
