A 31-year-old female police officer has been found dead in Langa on the Cape Flats.

Police spokesperson, Novela Potelwa, says the officer was discovered in her vehicle close to a primary school with gunshot wounds.

Potelwa says the officer left her home in Kraaifontein last night after knocking off and headed to an evening church service.

She says a murder investigation has been opened and no arrests have been made.

Earlier this month, an Inanda police officer attached to the Presidential Protection Services was shot multiple times during a robbery on Tuesday night.

This was the second officer killed in Inanda in just two months.
