37% senior Gauteng government officials fail lifestyle audits – SABC News
Nearly four out of ten (37%) senior Gauteng government officials have failed their lifestyle audits.
The Gauteng Ethics Advisory Council released the Province’s State of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Report yesterday.
Gauteng provincial spokesperson Vuyo Mhaga says the government will respond to the report in 14 days.
Mhaga says this is the second report to be released by the council since its establishment.
“The Ethics Advisory Council, which is really lead by prominent people like Dr Terence Nombembe, Thuli Madonsela and Zola Majavu. These are independent prominent South Africans that have been in the forefront of fighting corruption. This is the second report.”
“The first report was of us as the executive committee, meaning the MECs, the Premier and then go down to HODs which are the accounting officers. We even then said go further, go look at the supply chain management. So, we are quite happy that the council is doing work. There is no other province doing that,” explains Mhaga.
