Trump slams media for lack of reporting on ‘genocide in SA’ – SABC News
US President Donald Trump has again attacked the media for what he says is not covering genocide and land confiscations in South Africa.
The claims against South Africa have been widely debunked.
The Department of International Relations issued a statement on Friday, arguing that the resettlement of Afrikaners was entirely politically motivated and designed to question South Africa’s constitutional democracy.
It says police statistics on farm-related crimes did not support allegations of violent crime targeted at farmers generally or any particular race.
But Trump remains unmoved.
Meanwhile, the first group of Afrikaners are expected to arrive in Dulles International Airport outside Washington a little later tonight.
They departed OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on Sunday.
The group reportedly includes 49 Afrikaners, comprising families, older people and some younger couples.
The expedited processing of the group comes at a time when desperate refugees from other countries have been blocked from coming to the USA with immigration a hot button issue for the current administration.
