W Cape residents warned of impending bad weather – SABC News
Disaster Risk management officials in the Western Cape are on alert ahead of a series of cold fronts due to make landfall in the province this week.
The weather service has issued a level 2 weather warning with expected high waves, rain and strong winds from Tuesday.
Disaster Management’s Colin Deiner says cold weather conditions can be expected in the West Coast, the Cape Winelands and the City of Cape Town, with light snowfall in the Namaqua and Karoo regions.
“We got all the districts and metro disaster areas on standby, they’ve all activated their various resources, so everything is in place for us to manage this incident. We always say if you don’t need to travel don’t travel, especially where there a lot of wind issues in informal settlements it could be very dangerous to move around.”
