WC police following leads after Kleinvlei Police Station shootout – SABC News

Western Cape police say they are following up on leads after Kleinvlei Police Station, near Eerste Rivier, came under fire on Wednesday.

The incident happened shortly before midnight.

Western Cape Police Commissioner, Thembisile Patekile, says they are investigating the possibility that the incident is in retaliation to the arrest of three alleged gang members who were suspected of being responsible for murders in the area.

“We suspect that there is a link between the shooting and the police station because when they were arrested, they thought their people are coming down here, but obviously, they were not. There are no cells here. You get processed somewhere. The shooting was directed at the building and some bullet holes and also the park,” says Patekile.
