Limpopo African National Congress (ANC) Secretary Reuben Madadzhe says the Peter Mokaba Regional Elective Conference was legitimate and met the party’s guidelines.

The regional conference, marred by chaotic scenes due to infighting among the delegates, was held in Polokwane last night.

Some delegates staged a walkout as they were unhappy about party processes.

A faction, which supports Polokwane Municipality Executive Mayor, John Mpe remained and re-elected him and his slate uncontested.

Madadzhe says they are satisfied that the party processes were followed.

“We stand by that decision that the conference is not bogus, is a legitimate conference of the ANC. You will never have bogus conference of the ANC with four PEC officials attending the conference. It is legitimate. It meets the standard of the conference of the ANC, and we congratulate the newly-elected leadership of Peter Mokaba,” adds Madadzhe.
