Afrikaburn 25’s Last Desert Sunrise | Live Set @ Appa, South Africa, May ’25
Afrikaburn’s last sunrise and a week in the desert came to a dreamy closing with this sunrise set I had the honor to play in the middle of the playa, aboard Appa, the big fluffy artcar.
This set carries a lot of emotions. I was happy and tired, ecstatic and empty, but above all, grateful for one of the most magical weeks spent at Afrikaburn. This set is meant to contrast the energetic, punchy, bouncy and playful side of the music I had played in the events prior. It’s the soft landing we needed at that exact time.
And then, Appa rode off into the sunrise with us (you) on top, and we silently watched the burning of “Scratch”, the magical sphere that held so many untold things.
So I’ll let the music do the talking.
Thank you to the beautiful crowd aboard Appa, to the organization, and to everyone at Afrikaburn that I had the chance to hug and dance with.
Much love,
Gilles
