Five people have died on the N2 near Cintsa outside East London, Eastern Cape.

Department of Transport Spokesperson Unathi Binqose says the road is closed to traffic due to a crash involving a minibus taxi.

Motorists are urged to use alternative routes such as the old Transkei Road.
