KZN authorities working to remove black ice on south coast N2 – SABC News
Authorities in KwaZulu-Natal say they are working around the clock removing black ice caused by the low temperatures and heavy snowfall on the N2 between Harding and Port Shepstone.
Parts of the N2 had to be closed from this morning as thin layer of transparent ice on the road surface made it dangerous for motorists.
Many were trapped for more than eight hours by snowfalls and gale force winds.

KwaZulu-Natal Transport Department spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya says they currently have graders that are removing snow.
“MEC also indicated that the snow must not accumulate to more than 30cm in depth. That is why the team work extremely hard, and they have covered between t10 and 20 km removing snow,” says Sibiya.
