Africa poised to lead global green hydrogen revolution: Ramaphosa – SABC News
President Cyril Ramaphosa has expressed Africa’s readiness to lead the global green hydrogen revolution during his keynote address at the inaugural Africa Green Hydrogen Summit in Cape Town on Thursday.
Ramaphosa emphasises the continent’s immense potential in renewable energy and describes it as a transformative force for economic growth and climate resilience.
“Our beloved continent Africa, the cradle of humanity, is uniquely positioned to become a major player in green hydrogen because it has abundant renewable resources manifested in high solar irradiance, strong winds and hydropower potential,” he says.
The President says the Africa Green Hydrogen Summit is an important part of that vision, adding that hydrogen is a bridge to a new export industry for African countries.
