Comrades Marathon runner Moira Harding recovering in hospital
Moira Harding, the Comrades Marathon runner who went missing after finishing Sunday’s race, is recovering in hospital.
Harding was found on Monday morning, at the end of Point Road near the NSRI base.
It is believed that the person who found Harding was able to track down her husband thanks to an ICE (In Case of Emergency) bracelet she was wearing.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, said Harding was in a critical condition and had to be airlifted to hospital.
Harding’s sister, Fiona Baldwin, confirmed to IOL that Harding is recovering well in hospital and is awake and speaking.
Meanwhile, in recent media interviews, Baldwin slammed marathon organisers for the race’s “chaotic and poorly controlled ending”.
She told reporters that her sister would not have gone missing if it was a stadium finish.
IOL broke the story, stating that when Harding’s family could not find her, a missing person’s report was filed and a wide-spread search initiated.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda, said that although Harding was found with no visible injuries, police will await the medical report, which will determine police’s next course of action.
