Chancellor of UKZN urges youth to lead like Tsietsi Mashinini – SABC News

Businessman and Chancellor of the University of KwaZulu-Natal Dr Reuel Khoza has called on the youth to rewrite their own history in re-imagining a better South Africa through entrepreneurship and ethical leadership.

Dr Khoza delivered the keynote address at the 10th Tsietsi Mashinini Memorial Lecture in Soweto in memory of the 1976 uprisings’ student leader.

This comes as the country marks Youth Day, on Monday. His address looked at how to use entrepreneurship to alleviate poverty and joblessness.

The world will always tell you that you are too young, too inexperienced and too ambitious but history is written by those who defy limitations and choose to soar way above mediocrity.

Mashinini did not wait for permission to lead, Biko did not wait for approval to champion black consciousness, Nelson Mandela did not wait for ideal conditions to act and neither should you.”
