‘Gauteng Liquor, Gambling Boards inquiry to yield positive results’ – SABC News

Gauteng Economic Development MEC, Lebogang Maile says the committee of Inquiry investigating allegations of corruption at the Gauteng Liquor and Gambling Boards will hand over its findings within the next three to four months.

The committee consists of 15 members and is investigating allegations of bribery and the long processing times for licenses.

Maile says he believes the Committee of inquiry will not be deemed wasteful expenditure and it will yield positive results. He says they are working around the clock to resolve the delays in issuing licences.

“There were allegations that were brought to our attention through the committee. The portfolio committee in the legislature and the chair brought them to my attention. We looked at them and we realised that these are serious,” adds Maile.

Maile says they have also been having people writing to them.

“We thought we couldn’t fold our arms about these allegations; we have to appoint an experienced person in the form of a senior councilor,” adds Maile.
