A suspected poacher has been killed in a shoot-out with rangers at the Kruger National Park in Mpumalanga.

Police say in a statement that the deceased is a Mozambique national. They say rangers spotted three men near the Ngotso Dam in the Satara camp and ordered them to stop.

The men instead opened fire at the rangers. One man was wounded and he’s in a health facility where he’s recovering under police guard. Another man is at large.

Police recovered an axe, a hunting rifle and ammunition on the scene.
