Gauteng traffic police report two fatalities over long weekend – SABC News
Gauteng Traffic Police say they have unfortunately recorded two road fatalities over the long weekend so far. It added that traffic volumes are slowly increasing on key roads in and around the province.
Spokesperson, Obed Sibasa says freeways will be extra busy as people make their way home and political party supporters travel from Youth Day commemoration outside the province.
Sibasa urged motorists to be alert and obey the rules of the road.
“As road users celebrate Youth Day, today we urge them to celebrate responsibly to respect the rules of the road. We will be continuing with multidisciplinary road blocks, stop-and-search inspections and block patrols,” he says.
He says they are out in their numbers monitoring highways to and from Gauteng.
