Johannesburg EMS urges residents to be cautious with heating devices – SABC News
Johannesburg EMS has again urged residents to exercise caution when using heating devices. This comes after one person was killed during a fire in Braamfischerville, Soweto in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The Joburg Emergency Management Services says it responded to two fire incidents due to heating devices, one in Braamfischerville and the other in Alexandra’s Far East Bank, where one person suffered smoke inhalation. Joburg EMS has urged residents to be extra cautious and vigilant, especially during the peak winter-fire season.
“The EMS continues to urge the residents of Johannesburg to ensure safe use of all electrical appliances. Please also refrain from using heating devices overnight” says the EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo.
