Philippi East shooting: Three dead, one injured as police seek suspects
Western Cape police have launched a manhunt after a brutal late-night shooting in Philippi East left three men dead and a fourth wounded.
Police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut says the incident occurred at around 11.15pm on Sunday night, 15 June 2025, at a residence in 18083 Road, Better Life, Philippi East.
The four men were reportedly drinking alcohol inside the home when unidentified gunmen stormed in and opened fire.
“Provincial Serious Violent Crime detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that occurred, and claimed the lives of three men, aged between 28 and 39, and left a fourth man wounded,” said Traut.
The three men were declared dead on the scene by emergency services. The surviving victim was rushed to a nearby medical facility where he is receiving treatment.
“Detectives are investigating three counts of murder and one of attempted murder,” said Traut
Authorities have appealed to the public for help in identifying the attackers.
“Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or submit a tip-off anonymously via the MySAPS mobile application,” Traut said.
The motive for the attack remains unclear at this stage.
