Investigations are under way into the cause of a fire in which more than 20 buses were burnt at a depot in Mabopane, north of Pretoria.

The buses belong to Starline Bus Company. It is not clear at this stage what led to the fire. Firefighters from the City of Tshwane have managed to put out the blaze and no one was injured.

Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Lindsay Mnguni says they are not sure what caused the fire.

“At this stage we are unsure of the cause but remember we got the call as a grassfire incident and we arrived and the buses were also on fire. At this stage we won’t be able to tell what the cause of the fire is. We will work with the police and they will be handling the matters of the investigation and determine the cause of the fire.”
