Likhona Fose’s family and the local community in the west of Johannesburg are calling for courts  to deny bail to the man accused of the teen’s murder.

Thirty-nine-year-old Mduduzi Mnisi made a brief appearance at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court where his matter was remanded to next week for a formal bail application.

Mnisi is in custody following his arrest last week.

Fose’s mutilated body was discovered in a piece of veld near her home in Durban Deep, early this month.

Likhona’s grandfather, Thozamile Mlenze says Mnisi should be denied bail.

“What we are asking from the government is that if he gets bail, we won’t be happy as a family should he get bail. It is very disheartening whether he can get bail it will never be nice with us because Likhona will never come back again to us.”
