Murder case opened after two burnt females’ bodies found in E Cape – SABC News
Eastern Cape police have opened two murder cases following the discovery of two burnt bodies of young women at Khayelitsha outside Gqeberha.
Police say the victims are believed to be between the ages of 17 and 19 but their identities remain unconfirmed at this stage.
Police spokesperson Andre Beetge says the motive is still unclear and forms part of an ongoing investigation.
Beetge has called on members of the community to come forward with any information that could assist in the case.
“At approximately 8h35 police were notified about bodies found in bushes adjacent to Fourth Avenue in Khayelitsha. Upon arrival, members discovered the severely burnt bodies of two unidentified victims. Preliminary investigations indicate the victims are estimated to be between the ages of 17 and 19 years. The identities of the deceased remain unknown at this stage. The motive for this careless act is also unknown and forms a critical part of the ongoing investigations being conducted by Kwanobuhle Police.”
