The G7 should support the efforts of the Global South: Ramaphosa – SABC News

President Cyril Ramaphosa has concluded his three-day visit to Canada to participate in the G7 Leaders’ Outreach Summit, which focused on the key issue of energy security.

Ramaphosa was the only African head of state invited to the Summit in the picturesque region of Kananaskis, in the province of Alberta, as South Africa, in its capacity as G20 President, sought to pursue a strategic alignment within the framework of G7-G20 cooperation.

The Presidency says the Outreach session aimed “to explore leadership and collaboration in driving a comprehensive approach to energy security, raising issues resonating with both national and G20 interests.

President Ramaphosa said the G7 should support the efforts of the Global South to create a fair, just and inclusive global order that would foster sustainable development for all.

He also welcomed a strengthening of ties with Canada, calling their Africa strategy comprehensive, with the potential for cooperation in areas where there was alignment with the African agenda.
