EC police probe murder cases after discovery of five charred bodies – SABC News


Eastern Cape police are investigating murder cases after five bodies were discovered on the R345 outside Peddie.

The bodies were burnt beyond recognition and the vehicle they were apparently traveling in was severely damaged.

The vehicle was not burnt.

Police spokesperson, Nobuntu Gantana says, β€œThe motive for this attack remains unknown and forms a critical part of the ongoing investigation. Due to the severity of the crime, the case has been transferred to the Serious Violent Crime Investigation Unit for further investigation. The identities of the five deceased persons are currently unknown. SAPS appeals to anyone with information that could assist in identifying the victims or shedding light on the circumstances of the incident, to come forward.”

Meanwhile, the case against two men facing two counts of murder in North West has been postponed by the Rustenburg Magistrates Court, to the 2nd of July for a bail application. The duo allegedly shot and killed the elderly couple over the weekend.
