Pet zebra trots into internet fame before galloping home
In today’s episode of ‘Animals Gone Wild’, a pet Zebra is safe at “home” after his great escape went viral on social media.
And no, we don’t think he was part of the refugee program!
The zebra originally arrived in Christiana, in Tennessee, in the United States May 30. His owner reported him missing the next day.
Drivers on Interstate 24 watched him scampering across the highway in both the eastbound and westbound lanes, local authorities said.
Ed had been on the run for more than a week.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office reported Ed was located in a pasture near the Buchanan Estates subdivision, near Interstate 24.
Authorities said Sheriff’s deputies established command with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
“Deputies were on standby for the safety of the residents who live nearby. Ed was airlifted and flown by helicopter back to a waiting animal trailer,” the Sheriff’s office said.
