All systems go for Mpumalanga winter classes – SABC News


The Mpumalanga Department of Education says it is all systems go for winter classes aimed at assisting under performing schools.

More than 23,000 leaners are expected to attend the program scheduled to take place in two weeks time.

Departmental spokesperson, Gerald Sambo says more than a 100 centres have been established across the province.

“These classes intend to expose learners to the teaching methodologies of the most skilled and knowledgeable teachers and will help to cover the lost ground. The department is urging parents and members of the school community to support this programme by encouraging their children to attend.”

“In addition, the department will collaborate with the South African Institute for Charted Accountants to conduct residential camps for selected talented learners. These camps will run for a five-day period and will focus on Mathematics, Technical Mathematics, Physical Science, Technical Physical Science, and Accounting,” explains Sambo.
