A charred body of a four-year-old boy has been discovered inside a burnt house in Brakpan in Ekurhuleni this morning.  

City of Ekurhuleni Emergency Services says the boy’s parents, as well as his two-year-old sibling, sustained minor injuries. 

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.  

City of Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokesperson William Tladi says it is believed the fire started in the children’s bedroom. 

“On arrival, part of the roof had already collapsed. Flames were threatening the other structures nearby. We managed to contain the blaze and extinguish it. Unfortunately, on our search and rescue recovery, we discovered a charred body of a four-year-old boy under the rubble. Both parents and the sibling of about two years escaped with minor injuries and smoke inhalation.”
