Photographs of murder accused Mncube questioned in Senzo Meyiwa trial – SABC News
Defence lawyer Charles Mnisi is expected to continue with the cross-examination of the state witness, Sergeant Moses Mabasa, in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial on Monday. The trial will be heard in the Pretoria High Court.
The police officer was called back to the stand to testify on the photographs downloaded from accused number 3, Mthobisi Mncube‘s memory card.
The state argued that in one of the images taken on the 2nd of September 2014, a month before Meyiwa was killed.
Mncube had a gold tooth and dreadlocks – a description given by a witness of a person seen fleeing the crime scene in Vosloorus that night. However, on Friday, advocate Mnisi told the court that Mncube was in prison on that date.
“Accused 3 says this photo was taken in 2012 at a house he was staying in Vosloorus. As a Data Analyst, this photo was taken on 2nd September 2014, at 16 hours, 32 seconds,” Mnisi said.
Mabasa testified that it is according to the data he received.
Mnisi argued that “Now accuse 3 Mr Mncube says in January 2013 he got arrested and he was released on the 17th of September 2014. That simply means that when you are saying that this photo was taken on the 2nd of September 2014. That simply means that when you say this photo was taken on the 2nd of September 2014, that is incorrect because at that time, he was in custody.”
