SA Jazz legend Feya Faku passes away while on tour in Switzerland – SABC News


Renowned South African trumpeter and flugelhornist Fezile “Feya” Faku has passed away at the age of 63.  Media reports state that the artist died on Monday while touring in Basel, Switzerland.

Faku was born on June 6, 1962, in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth, and earned acclaim for blending jazz with African musical influences.

He recorded internationally and collaborated with luminaries such as Abdullah Ibrahim, Bheki Mseleku, and Zim Ngqawana.
