Stormers bolster pack with Ackermann
The Stormers have added to their off-season acquisitions, beefing up the pack with robust former Lions thumper Ruan Ackermann.
Having already secured the services of world champion scrumhalf Cobus Reinach (Montpellier) and signing loosehead prop Ntuthuko Mchunu from the Sharks, the Stormers have now confirmed the signing of Ruan Ackermann, son of former Bok lock Johan Ackermann.

After three seasons at Ellis Park with the Lions, Ruan Ackermann completed an eight-year stint in the English Premiership, where he earned over 170 caps for Gloucester, and now returns to the country of his birth to bolster the ranks in Cape Town.
The 29-year-old loose forward is renowned for his contact power on both sides of the ball, an attribute that is set to see him play a crucial role for the Stormers in tandem with Evan Roos, Deon Fourie and Ben-Jason Dixon.

Ackermann says he’s relishing the opportunity to run out in the famous blue and white jersey: “The support for rugby in Cape Town is second to none and there are obviously some incredible players and coaches there, so I am looking forward to what should be an exciting new journey for me and my family.
“I’m ready to give everything I have to the cause and make a positive contribution in any way I can as part of what will be a strong squad next season,” he said.
