'Tireless advocate for the marginalised': MK Party confirms passing of MP Zamathembu Ngcobo
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has announced the passing of one of its members of Parliament, Zamathembu Nokuthula Ngcobo, who died on June 21, 2025, after a brief illness.
In a statement, the party’s spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, paid tribute to Ngcobo’s unwavering dedication to public service and her relentless advocacy for justice and equality.
“It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that the MK Party announces the passing of our beloved Member of Parliament in the National Council of Provinces, Honourable Zamathembu Nokuthula Ngcobo,” the statement read.
“Honourable Ngcobo was a dedicated servant of the people, a tireless advocate for the downtrodden and marginalised, and a beacon of hope for countless South Africans who found in her an unwavering champion of justice, dignity, and equality,” the party added.
“Her life was a testament to the spirit of selfless service, and she carried the torch of the struggle with humility, courage, and an unyielding commitment to the betterment of our communities.”
The party added that throughout her tenure in the National Council of Provinces, Ngcobo distinguished herself through her steadfast dedication to amplifying the voices of the underserved and pushing forward policies to address historical injustices.
“Her colleagues and constituents remember her as a compassionate leader whose contributions to parliamentary debates and committee work were always grounded in a deep sense of empathy and a firm belief in transformative, people-centered governance.”
Ndhlela extends its heartfelt condolences to Ngcobo’s family, friends, comrades, and all movement members who had the privilege of working alongside her.
“We also express our sympathy to the broader South African society, which has lost an exemplary leader and tireless servant of the people.”.
As the party mourns her loss, the party pledged to honor her legacy by continuing her work with renewed vigour and dedication.
“We commit ourselves to carrying forward the ideals she passionately stood for, and to ensuring that her vision for a just and equitable South Africa lives on,” said Ndhlela.
