Action SA calls for RAF board’s immediate removal – SABC News

Action SA says it supports Parliament’s decision to launch a full inquiry into the Road Accident Fund (RAF).

The party criticised the RAF, calling it a centre of corruption and mismanagement after a poor performance by its board before parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa).

Action SA is demanding the RAF Board’s immediate removal and has proposed a motion for debate.

Party MP Alan Beesley says it is disturbing that the RAF awarded two media houses R1 billion in contracts, but the expenditure does not make sense.

Beesley says, “Two media companies were awarded a contract of R500 million to last a couple of years and that most of that money is being used up, and serious concerns need to be asked as to where that money has actually been used up.”

He says, “When we do the inquiry, we’re going to actually investigate…so one pretty quick question is where that money’s actually gone and why it’s been divided between two people in such huge, huge quantities?”– Reporting by Kholo Tefo.
