‘Armed and dangerous,’ Limpopo launches manhunt for three escaped prisoners



Police in Limpopo have launched a massive manhunt after three trial awaiting prisoners escaped from police cells on Tuesday morning. 

The provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the three suspects escaped at approximately 5.35am. 

The suspects are awaiting trial for murder. 

Police have described Patrick Mbombi, Thabo Moye Makgopa, and Javas Mongwe as armed and dangerous. 

“They allegedly overpowered police on duty and fled on foot,” Ledwaba said. 

Police have urged anyone with information about the suspects’ whereabouts to urgently contact Detective Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mavis Shilubane at 082 469 0900, or to contact the nearest police station or police toll-free number 08600 10111, or use the MySAPS App.

“All information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. Police investigations are ongoing,” Ledwaba said.
