Free State police launch manhunt for Ficksburg pensioner’s killers – SABC News

Police in Ficksburg, Free State, have launched a manhunt for unknown suspects following the gruesome discovery of a 65-year-old pensioner’s body at his home at Katlehong Location in Meqheleng.

Police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli says the deceased’s neighbour noticed  that the old man’s door was wide open just after 3am on Saturday which concerned him and led him to go inspect as this was unusual.

“When he entered his neighbour’s house, he was met with the unpleasant sight of the old man lying in a pool of his own blood.  The deceased was lying on his back and had been stabbed in both eyes and sustained an open wound on the right side of his neck. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel were called to the scene and certified him deceased. The motive for the murder is currently unknown, and no arrests made yet. Ficksburg police are appealing to anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward, “says Kareli.
