Rand Water’s planned maintenance work set to start on Monday – SABC News

Bulk water supplier Rand Water has announced that its latest round of planned maintenance work in Gauteng will commence on Monday and is expected to continue until Thursday, July 18.

Rand Water says the maintenance will be carried out in phases and will not involve a continuous 18-day shutdown.

Residents across Johannesburg, Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, and several other municipalities have been advised to prepare for possible low water pressure or complete supply interruptions during the maintenance period.

Rand Water spokesperson Makenosi Maroo says the maintenance work has been strategically scheduled.

“I think certainly it’s important for us not to panic. The maintenance is happening. It’s not over a period of 18 days consecutively. So there will be a break. Actually, this is the second phase that we are undertaking. On the 29th, we started and … completed the first phase.”

“Then we waited for the system to recover before we start the second phase, which will start tomorrow on the 30th. So it’s not as scary as people think. I think we tend to panic. We did plan for this maintenance as Rand Water.”
