Inaugural National Dialogue Outreach Session gets underway at NWU – SABC News
Calls are growing for government to make addressing the country’s high unemployment rate its priority. This as the inaugural National Dialogue Outreach Session gets underway on the North West University’s Potchefstroom campus.
The university, the Strategic Dialogue Group and the Thabo Mbeki Foundation are hosting the discussions ahead of next month’s National Dialogue.
Political analyst Thabang Motswaledi says the National Dialogue must seek tangible solutions to the high unemployment rate.
“There needs to be various strategies that are going to combat this issue from a social, economic, as well as other social issues, that would be able to address these social injustices, not just to look at it as a one issue, because from looking at it as a single issue, we are going to come back to this particular crisis that we solved one, but we’re not able to solve the other.”
“So I think that as a multi-phased issue, such that it addresses all the challenges that we have in the province, then we can be able to move forward as a province in terms of solving this particular crisis,” says Motswaledi.
