Trump not happy with Putin, considers additional sanctions on Russia – SABC News
US President Donald Trump says he’s not happy with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
He was speaking to the media during a cabinet meeting at the White House.
US efforts to broker a ceasefire in Russia’s war against Ukraine have so far been unsuccessful.
Trump also said he had approved sending US defensive weapons to Ukraine and was also considering whether to support a Senate effort that would impose additional steep sanctions on Russia because of the war, punitive actions that could include US sanctions on countries that purchase Russian oil and gas among other measures.
Trump said Putin was very nice all the time but that it turned out to be meaningless, as mediation efforts stall.
Trump also noted that Russian and Ukrainian soldiers were dying by the thousands in the war.
